Collection: Natura Organic Pillows

We've been selling Natura pillows in our Brantford showroom since they started making them in 1994. Here's what we've learned after helping hundreds of customers find the right organic pillow: most people don't need fancy marketing claims. They need a pillow that actually keeps them cool, doesn't smell like chemicals, and still feels good after five years.

That's Natura. Organic latex core, certified organic cotton cover, made in Canada. No polyester, no memory foam off-gassing, no synthetic materials breaking down after 18 months.

Why Natural Latex Pillows Last Longer

After 37 years selling bedding, we've noticed something: customers who bought Natura pillows in 2010 still have them. Here's why organic latex holds up:

  • Latex doesn't compress like foam or down. Same loft after years of use
  • Natural temperature regulation (no flipping to the "cool side" all night)
  • Won't harbor dust mites or mold (latex is naturally antimicrobial)
  • No chemical treatments needed. Organic certification means clean materials
  • We've seen these last 10+ years with proper care

What "Organic" Actually Means for Pillows

Natura's certifications aren't just labels. They're third-party verified standards:

  • GOLS (Global Organic Latex Standard): The latex comes from certified organic rubber trees, processed without synthetic chemicals
  • GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard): The cotton cover is grown and manufactured organically (no pesticides, no chemical dyes)
  • Made in Canada: Natura manufactures in Quebec. You're not getting knock-offs from overseas

Which Natura Pillow for Your Sleep Position

This is what we recommend based on what actually works for our customers:

Side Sleepers (Most Common)

Natura Dream Mate Pillow is our go-to. The shredded latex gives you loft without being too firm. You need height between your shoulder and head. This pillow provides that without going flat after a few months.

Back Sleepers

Natura Ultimate Organic works better here. The contoured solid core keeps your neck from tilting too far forward or back. It's firmer than the Dream, which is what back sleepers usually need.

Stomach Sleepers

Honestly? We usually recommend something thinner than what Natura makes. But if you want organic and sleep on your stomach, ask us about the Natura Aloe Dream. It's their lowest-profile option.

Combination Sleepers

If you move around a lot, the Natura Dream adjusts better. The shredded latex shifts as you change positions. The solid-core pillows don't adapt as well.

Taking Care of Your Organic Pillow

Latex pillows are low-maintenance, but here's what actually matters:

  • Don't wash the latex core. Spot-clean the cotton cover only (or remove it if it's zippered).
  • Air it out every few months. Just leave it uncovered for a day. Latex naturally resists odors and bacteria.
  • No pillow protector needed. The organic cotton cover breathes. Adding plastic defeats the purpose.
  • Expect 5-10 years minimum.

Why We Carry Organic (Beyond Marketing)

Look, we sell non-organic mattresses too. But here's why we stock Natura's organic pillows:

  • Natural latex is tapped from rubber trees (renewable resource, trees aren't cut down)
  • No petroleum-based foam means no chemical off-gassing in your bedroom
  • When these eventually wear out, the latex biodegrades (unlike polyurethane foam that sits in landfills)
  • Customers with chemical sensitivities can actually use these without reactions

If you don't care about eco-friendly, that's fine. But if you do, Natura's one of the few companies that can actually prove their claims with third-party certifications.

Who Benefits Most from Organic Pillows

Based on 37 years of customer feedback, organic pillows make the biggest difference for:

  • Hot sleepers: Latex breathes better than memory foam. No heat trap
  • Allergy sufferers: Dust mites can't live in latex (they need organic matter to feed on)
  • People sensitive to smells: No chemical odor when you open the package (unlike most foam pillows)
  • Anyone who wants a pillow that lasts: You'll spend more upfront, but you won't replace it in 2 years

Try Before You Buy in Brantford

We know $130-160 is a lot for a pillow. That's why we keep every Natura pillow model in stock at our West Street showroom. Come in, lie down on them, ask Dorothy questions. We'd rather you spend 10 minutes testing them than ordering online and hating it.

Common Questions About Natura Organic Pillows

What's the difference between organic latex and regular foam pillows?

Organic latex comes from rubber tree sap and is certified free of pesticides and synthetic chemicals (GOLS standard). Regular foam is petroleum-based polyurethane. The practical difference: latex sleeps cooler, lasts longer, and doesn't off-gas chemical odors. Foam is cheaper upfront but compresses faster.

Will a latex pillow help with neck pain?

Depends on the cause of your neck pain. If it's from poor support (pillow too flat or too high), yes. Latex maintains consistent loft and doesn't compress. If your neck pain is medical, a pillow won't fix it. We've had customers report improvement, but we're not doctors. The Natura Ultimate Organic is our most popular for neck support because of the contoured solid core.

Do Natura pillows smell when you first open them?

There's a faint natural rubber smell (like a rubber band) that goes away in 24-48 hours. It's not chemical off-gassing. It's just the natural scent of latex. If you're sensitive to smells, air it out for a day before using. Nothing like the strong chemical smell from memory foam pillows.

Are these pillows worth the price compared to regular pillows?

We've been selling these since 2010. The honest answer: if you replace your pillow every 1-2 years, you'll break even in cost around year 5-6 with Natura. But the real value is comfort and durability. Customers tell us these still feel good after 8-10 years. If you just want the cheapest pillow, this isn't it. If you want one that lasts and sleeps cool, it's worth every penny.

Can I wash the pillow in a washing machine?

No. Don't put the latex core in the washing machine. The cotton cover can be spot-cleaned or removed (if zippered) and hand-washed. Latex is naturally antimicrobial, so it doesn't need washing like down or polyester. Just air it out occasionally. If you spill something on it, spot-clean with mild soap and water.

Do you have these in stock at your Brantford store?

Yes, we stock the full Natura pillow line at 441 1/2 West Street in Brantford. You can test them in the showroom. We have floor models set up for trying. If you want to take one home same day, we keep inventory on hand. Call ahead if you want to make sure we have a specific model: 519-770-0001.
