Collection: Pillows

We stock about 35 different pillow models at our Brantford showroom (441 1/2 West St). Prices range from $29 for basic microfiber pillows to $189 for Natura organic latex pillows. Most customers buy two pillows - one for their actual sleep position and one for reading in bed or propping up.

Pillow Types We Carry

Down and Feather Pillows ($49-$129) - We stock Canadian Hutterite down pillows and white goose down options. Down is soft and moldable, feather is firmer. The fill power rating (400-800) tells you quality - higher is better. See our down pillow collection.

Latex Pillows ($79-$189) - Natural Talalay latex from Natura or synthetic latex. These are our most durable pillows (5-7 year lifespan). Latex bounces back and sleeps cooler than memory foam. Popular with people who have neck pain. Check our latex pillow options.

Memory Foam Pillows ($39-$99) - We carry Somnia contour pillows and specialty memory foam. These conform to neck shape but can sleep warm. Look for gel-infused models if you sleep hot. Good for side sleepers who need consistent support.

Specialty Pillows ($59-$149) - Body pillows for pregnancy and side sleepers, wedge pillows for acid reflux, ergonomic pillows for neck pain. Dorothy handles most specialty pillow fittings because people often need them for medical reasons. See our body pillow collection.

Budget Pillows ($29-$49) - Microfiber and polyester fill. Good for guest rooms or kids. Not as durable as down or latex (2-3 year lifespan) but very affordable.

How to Choose Pillow Loft Height

Loft is the height of the pillow when you compress it with your head. This matters way more than people realize.

Back sleepers: Need 3-4 inches of loft (medium height). Too high and your neck tilts forward. Too low and your head tilts back. Medium loft keeps your spine straight.

Side sleepers: Need 5-6 inches of loft (high height) to fill the gap between your shoulder and ear. Measure from your shoulder to your ear while lying on your side - that is your required loft. Our support pillows work well for side sleepers.

Stomach sleepers: Need 2-3 inches of loft (low height) or skip the pillow entirely. Too much loft arches your neck backward and causes pain. Many stomach sleepers use no pillow.

The only way to know is testing at our showroom. Lie down in your actual sleep position on one of our mattresses with different pillow lofts. Brad or Dorothy will measure the gap and help you choose. Bring your current pillow if you want us to compare.

Pillow Materials and Lifespan

Down pillows last 5-8 years with proper care (use pillow protector, fluff daily). Latex pillows last 5-7 years and maintain loft better than any other material. Memory foam pillows last 3-5 years before they lose support. Budget polyester pillows need replacing every 2-3 years when they flatten.

All pillows need pillow protectors ($12-$19 each). The protector keeps oils and moisture out of the pillow fill, which extends lifespan significantly. Wash the protector monthly, wash the actual pillow once or twice a year.

Common Pillow Questions

What pillow loft do I need for side sleeping?

Side sleepers need 5-6 inches of loft when compressed to keep your neck aligned with your spine. Measure from your shoulder to your ear while lying on your side - that distance is your loft requirement. High loft pillows fill that gap. Visit our Brantford showroom at 441 1/2 West St to test different lofts.

What is the best pillow for neck pain in Brantford?

Latex pillows work well for neck pain because they provide consistent support and bounce back. Somnia contour pillows also help by supporting the natural curve of your neck. Dorothy handles most neck pain cases - she matches pillow loft to your sleep position and tests your neck alignment. Call 519-770-0001 to book a fitting.

How much should I spend on a good pillow?

Most Brantford customers spend $59-$99 for quality pillows. Budget pillows ($29-$49) last 2-3 years. Mid-range down or latex ($60-$120) last 5-7 years. Premium Natura organic ($150-$189) last 7+ years. Calculate cost per year - quality pillows are better value long-term.

What brands of pillows do you carry at your Brantford location?

We stock Natura (organic latex, $150-$189), Somnia (ergonomic support, $59-$99), Canadian Hutterite down ($79-$129), and quality microfiber options ($29-$49). Brad and Dorothy test every pillow for support and durability before we stock it. Family owned since 1987.

Can I try pillows at your Brantford showroom?

Yes! Lie down on our mattresses with different pillows in your actual sleep position. Test the loft height, feel the material, check if it keeps your neck straight. Brad or Dorothy will watch your neck alignment and recommend the right loft. Bring your current pillow to compare. Located at 441 1/2 West St, Brantford.

What is the difference between down and feather pillows?

Down is the soft under-plumage from goose chest (no quills). Feather has quills and is firmer. Down pillows are softer and more moldable ($79-$129). Feather pillows provide more support and cost less ($49-$79). Many pillows mix both - surround down has down center with feather outer for best of both.

Do I need a pillow protector?

Yes - pillow protectors ($12-$19) keep oils and moisture out of pillow fill. This extends pillow lifespan by 2-3 years. Wash the protector monthly instead of washing the actual pillow. Way easier than dry cleaning down pillows or spot-cleaning latex.

How long do pillows last?

Down pillows: 5-8 years. Latex pillows: 5-7 years. Memory foam: 3-5 years. Budget polyester: 2-3 years. Replace when pillow loses support, flattens, or gives you neck pain. Use protectors to extend lifespan. Most people wait too long to replace pillows - if it is over 5 years old and you have neck pain, get a new one.

What is the most popular pillow at Mattress Miracle?

Our Canadian Hutterite down pillows ($79-$129) are most popular. They mold to your head, sleep cool, and last 6-8 years. Second most popular is Natura Talalay latex ($150-$189) for people who want durable non-allergenic support. Both are way better than cheap pillows from big box stores.

Can I wash pillows or do they need dry cleaning?

Down pillows need dry cleaning or careful home washing (large washer, gentle cycle, tennis balls to refluff). Latex pillows spot clean only - never soak latex. Memory foam spot cleans. Microfiber pillows are machine washable. Use pillow protectors to reduce how often you need to wash pillows.
