HRV has become the metric that health-conscious sleepers obsess over, sometimes to the point where tracking sleep makes sleep worse (a phenomenon researchers call orthosomnia). At Mattress Miracle, we have noticed more customers asking about HRV and how their mattress choice affects it. The answer is more practical than you might expect.
What Is HRV and Why It Matters for Sleep
Heart rate variability is the variation in time intervals between consecutive heartbeats. If your heart beats at 60 beats per minute, the intervals between beats are not exactly one second each. They vary slightly, perhaps 0.95 seconds, then 1.05, then 0.98. That variation is your HRV.
