Will my current mattress work on an adjustable base?
Memory foam, latex, and most hybrid mattresses work on adjustable bases. Pure innerspring mattresses without a flexible foam layer cannot bend safely. Check your mattress warranty — some require a flat foundation. Adjustable-compatible mattresses are flagged on our product pages.
Do adjustable beds help with sleep apnea?
Head elevation reduces airway collapse for many OSA patients. Souza et al. (2017, Sleep & Breathing) found 7.5-degree head-of-bed elevation reduced apnea events by ~31% in OSA patients. Not a replacement for CPAP — talk to a sleep specialist.
Split king vs king: which for couples?
Split king (two twin XL bases under separate mattresses) lets each partner adjust independently. Worth it if one snores, the other reads in bed, or partners want different firmness on the same bed. Single king with one adjustable base is fine if you sleep similarly.
How long do adjustable bed bases last?
Leggett & Platt and similar brand-name bases last 15-20 years. Motor warranty is typically 20-25 years. Cheap import bases may fail in 3-5 years. Buy quality — the base will outlast the mattress.
Can I use an adjustable bed during pregnancy?
Generally yes. Many pregnant women find side sleeping plus head and foot elevation reduces back pain and acid reflux. Consult your obstetrician for late-pregnancy positioning advice.
