Highland Feather down bedding is made to order in Toronto, Ontario, and Mattress Miracle in Brantford has carried it since 2026. Highland Feather offers retailers twenty-two down duvet builds. We stocked all of them for six months, watched what people actually bought, and cut the list to the six that sold or that fill a gap the others left. Every duvet on this page is a white goose or white duck down duvet with square baffle box construction (fabric walls sewn between the top and bottom shell so the down cannot migrate to the corners), a down-proof cotton or Tencel shell, and a choice of four warmth levels. Which Highland Feather duvet should I buy?

A Highland Feather duvet is defined by three things: the bird (goose or duck), the loft (fill power, the volume one ounce of down occupies, so 600 loft is good everyday down and 950 loft is the largest, lightest clusters available), and the shell (233 thread count plain cotton up to 700 thread count sateen, or Tencel organic cotton for hot sleepers). Higher loft means a lighter duvet for the same warmth. A higher thread count means a smoother, quieter shell. Neither changes how warm the duvet is; warmth is set by the fill weight you choose.

The six steps, cheapest first. Any other Highland Feather build (Hutterite 725 loft, 800 loft duck, 700 thread count shells and so on) can still be ordered by phone at the factory's current price.

Two picks stand out from sales in our Brantford store this year. The Lisburn 600 loft goose down in All Season is the everyday goose duvet most customers settle on. The Duszan 950 loft Polish goose down is the one people come back for when they want the lightest duvet that will still handle a January night in an old Brantford house.

How do the four warmth levels work?

Every Highland Feather duvet is filled to one of four weights. The shell and the down are identical across the four; only the amount of down changes.

• Summer: the lightest fill. Hot sleepers, air conditioned rooms, or a second duvet for June to September.
• All Season: the weight most Ontario households use twelve months a year in a home kept near 20 degrees.
• All Season Warm: more fill for a cool bedroom, a drafty older house, or anyone who sleeps cold.
• Deluxe: the heaviest fill. Unheated cottages, bedrooms kept below 17 degrees, or sleepers who like weight.

Goose down or duck down?

Goose down clusters are larger than duck down clusters, so goose reaches higher lofts (750 to 950) and duck tops out around 800. At the same loft, goose and duck insulate the same; a 600 loft duck duvet and a 600 loft goose duvet in the same weight feel almost identical under a cover. Goose costs more because the birds are larger and rarer. If the budget is under $500 for a Queen, buy the duck version of the shell you want and put the difference toward a better cover. Highland Feather down pillows by fill level

The pillows use the same shells and down as the duvets, in Standard, Queen and King, each in three fill levels. Level 1 is soft and low for stomach sleepers, Level 2 is the medium most back sleepers choose, and Level 3 is the fullest for side sleepers with broader shoulders. Prices are Queen, Level 1 to Level 3.

Highland Feather also sews bedding. The 100% French linen sheet set (from $340) is the single best selling Highland Feather product at Mattress Miracle, with the matching French linen duvet cover and French linen pillowcases. The Versaille 300 thread count Egyptian cotton sheet set (from $112) is the smooth sateen option, with a Versaille pillowcase pair to match. Washing and care

A Highland Feather down duvet can go in a large front loading washer on a cool gentle cycle with a small dose of mild detergent, then a low heat dryer with wool or tennis balls until it is completely dry, which can take two to three hours. Wash the duvet itself once or twice a year and keep it inside a cover you wash weekly. The pillows follow the same routine.
