Restonit vs Restonic mattresses — two brands one letter apart

Restonit vs Restonic Mattresses: What Is the Difference?

Quick Answer: Restonit and Restonic are two separate Canadian mattress brands we carry at Mattress Miracle. Restonit mattresses roll-pack and ship anywhere in Canada via courier ($80 to $1,525), while Restonic mattresses use traditional coil systems and require white glove delivery in Southern Ontario ($906 to $2,489). Restonit works on adjustable bases. Restonic needs a box spring or solid platform.

Why People Confuse These Two Brands

We get this question at least once a week. Someone calls asking about "that Restonic mattress that ships in a box," and we have to pause and sort out which brand they actually mean. Restonit and Restonic share eight letters, both are Canadian, and both sit on our showroom floor at Mattress Miracle in Brantford. The similarities pretty much end there.

Brad, Owner since 1987: "I've carried Restonic for decades. When we added Restonit a few years back, even some of our repeat customers thought it was the same company. Different manufacturers, different philosophies, different price points. Both good at what they do."

The confusion is understandable. But buying the wrong one could mean getting a mattress that doesn't fit your base, doesn't ship to your province, or costs twice what you expected. This guide breaks down exactly what separates them so you can order with confidence.

Restonit: The Shipped-to-Your-Door Line

Restonit specializes in roll-packed mattresses. Every model compresses into a box or bag, ships via courier, and arrives at your door anywhere in Canada. You cut the plastic, let it expand for a few hours, and you are sleeping on it that night.

What Makes Restonit Different

Foam and hybrid construction. Restonit uses memory foam, gel foam, BioFoam, and (in their hybrid models) individually pocketed coils. None of their mattresses use traditional Bonnell or offset coil systems, which is why they can compress flat for shipping.

Adjustable base compatible. Every Restonit mattress flexes with an adjustable bed frame. If you own a SleepBeat or ErgoBox base, Restonit is the mattress line designed to pair with it.

Nationwide shipping. Vancouver, Winnipeg, Halifax, it does not matter. Restonit ships to any Canadian address. That is a genuine advantage if you live outside Southern Ontario, where most mattress stores concentrate their delivery routes.

Price range: $80 to $1,582. That spread covers everything from a basic RV mattress to an organic luxury model. Most customers land somewhere in the $585 to $1,145 range.

Why Roll-Packing Works: Modern foam mattresses recover 95-98% of their original height within 24-72 hours of unboxing. A 2019 study in the Journal of Testing and Evaluation found that compression packaging does not meaningfully affect foam durability or support characteristics when manufacturers use appropriate foam densities. Restonit's BioFoam and gel foam formulations are specifically engineered for roll-pack recovery.

Restonic: The Traditional Showroom Line

Restonic has been manufacturing mattresses in North America since 1938. They build traditional innerspring and hybrid mattresses with offset coil systems, individually pocketed coils, and multi-layer comfort systems. These are full-size, non-compressible mattresses that require truck delivery.

What Makes Restonic Different

Coil-based support systems. Every Restonic mattress features a coil system, from the 1,222-coil ComfortCare to the 1,188-coil Revive flagship. Coil counts this high create targeted support zones that foam alone cannot replicate, especially for heavier sleepers or those with chronic back conditions.

Flippable and luxury options. Restonic offers features you simply cannot roll-pack: dual-sided flippable mattresses (the Silk and Wool Flippable), natural fibre comfort layers, Talalay copper latex, and 15-inch pillowtop profiles. These are mattresses designed to be tried in person.

Southern Ontario delivery. Restonic mattresses ship on a delivery truck with white glove service. We deliver throughout Brantford, Hamilton, Burlington, Mississauga, Toronto, Kitchener-Waterloo, Guelph, Cambridge, St. Catharines, Niagara Falls, London, Barrie, and Oshawa. If you are outside this area, Restonic is not the right pick.

The Full Restonic Lineup

Model Coils Queen Price Key Feature
Foxglove Premium Offset coil $906 Medium comfort, entry Restonic
ComfortCare Dalton/Albany 1,222 $999 Best value, highest coil density
Revive 100 Marissa Pocketed coil $1,239 Premium Canadian craftsmanship
Revive Opulence Pocketed coil $1,459 Ultra-premium pillowtop
Reflections 1,200 $1,785 Flippable dual-sided
Silk and Wool Flippable 884 zoned $1,959 Natural silk and wool fibres
Revive Tiffany Rose/Jasmine 1,188 $2,199 Talalay Copper Latex
Revive St Charles/Elizabeth 1,188 $2,489 15" flagship, copper latex

Price range: $906 to $2,489. Restonic starts where Restonit's mid-range sits and goes considerably higher. You are paying for coil engineering, natural materials, and construction that cannot be compressed.

Dorothy, Sleep Specialist: "When someone comes in asking about Restonic, I always have them lie on the ComfortCare first, then on a Restonit Borealis Gel. The difference in support feel is immediate. Coils push back differently than foam. Neither is better, they are just different, and most people know within 30 seconds which feel they prefer."

Which Brand Fits You

Which brand fits you — Restonit vs Restonic guide at Mattress Miracle

The right choice depends on three things: where you live, what base you sleep on, and how much you want to spend.

Choose Restonit If:

  • You live outside Southern Ontario. Restonit ships nationally. If you are in Alberta, BC, Manitoba, or the Maritimes, this is your only option from our catalogue.
  • You have an adjustable base. Every Restonit mattress flexes properly on adjustable frames. Restonic mattresses do not.
  • Your budget is under $1,000. Restonit covers the $80 to $845 range with solid options. Restonic does not start until $906.
  • You need a mattress fast. Courier delivery typically arrives in 3-7 business days across Canada. Truck delivery scheduling takes longer.
  • You are buying for a guest room, RV, or bunk bed. Restonit's entry-level foam mattresses ($80 to $300) fill these roles perfectly without overspending.

Choose Restonic If:

  • You prefer innerspring feel. The responsive pushback of a coil system is something foam cannot fully duplicate. If you have always slept on springs, Restonic will feel more familiar.
  • You weigh over 230 pounds. High-coil-count systems (1,188 to 1,222 coils) provide better long-term support for heavier sleepers. Foam mattresses can compress faster under higher body weight.
  • You want natural materials. Silk, wool, and Talalay copper latex are available in Restonic's upper range. Restonit's materials are primarily synthetic foams (with one organic exception).
  • You want a flippable mattress. Two Restonic models flip for extended lifespan. No Restonit model flips.
  • You live in Southern Ontario. White glove delivery means the mattress arrives set up, positioned, and your old mattress removed.

What Research Says About Coils vs Foam: A 2021 systematic review in Sleep Medicine Reviews found that mattress type (spring vs foam) matters less than proper spinal alignment for sleep quality. The review of 39 studies concluded that individual comfort preference, not construction type, is the strongest predictor of sleep satisfaction. Both foam and coil systems can achieve proper alignment when matched to the sleeper's body weight and preferred position.

Can You Mix and Match?

Absolutely. And many of our customers do.

The most common combination we see at our Brantford store: a Restonic mattress in the master bedroom (where you spend the most time and want that coil support) paired with Restonit mattresses in guest rooms or kids' rooms (where budget matters more). Some couples even split it differently.

Talia, Showroom Specialist: "One of my favourite setups is a Restonic ComfortCare on a traditional frame in the master, and a Restonit Borealis Gel on a SleepBeat adjustable base in the second bedroom that doubles as a TV room. The adjustable base with the Restonit lets you sit up and watch shows. The Restonic in the master gives you that classic firm support all night. Best of both worlds for under $2,000 total."

Pairing With Bed Frames

Both brands work with platform bed frames from our Julien Beaudoin collection. The key difference is adjustable bases:

  • Restonit + adjustable base = perfect pairing. The mattress flexes with the base.
  • Restonic + adjustable base = not recommended. Coil systems resist bending and will wear unevenly.
  • Either brand + platform frame = works well. Platform slats provide solid, flat support for both.
  • Restonic + Restonic box spring ($350) = the traditional pairing, designed together for optimal support height.

What About Warranty?

Both brands include manufacturer warranties, but the terms differ. Restonit warranties cover foam compression and material defects. Restonic warranties additionally cover coil system integrity. In both cases, using the mattress on an appropriate base (not bending a Restonic on an adjustable frame, for example) is required to keep the warranty valid.

Try Both in Brantford: We keep both Restonit and Restonic models on our showroom floor at 441½ West Street. Dorothy or Talia can walk you through the feel difference in about ten minutes. Most people figure out their preference quickly once they lie on both. No pressure, no commission.

Three Things People Get Wrong

1. "Restonit is the budget version of Restonic." They are not related companies. Restonit's $1,525 FROST Ice Gel is a premium mattress by any standard. The brands simply serve different construction philosophies: foam-based shipping vs coil-based delivery.

2. "You can put any mattress on an adjustable base." You cannot. Restonic's coil systems are rigid. Bending them on an adjustable base will damage the coils and void your warranty. Stick with Restonit (or other foam/hybrid mattresses designed for flex) on adjustable frames.

3. "Shipped mattresses are lower quality." Roll-packing is a shipping method, not a quality indicator. Restonit's Glacier Peyto and FROST models use high-density foams and advanced gel formulations. The Canadian Sleep Society notes that mattress comfort and support are determined by materials and construction, not by how the product arrives at your home.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Restonit and Restonic made by the same company?

No. They are completely separate manufacturers. Restonic has been making mattresses in North America since 1938. Restonit is a newer Canadian brand specializing in roll-packed foam and hybrid mattresses. The similar names cause confusion, but the companies, factories, and product lines are independent.

Can I get a Restonic mattress shipped to Alberta or BC?

Not through our store. Restonic mattresses require truck delivery and we currently deliver to Southern Ontario only (Brantford, Hamilton, Toronto, Kitchener-Waterloo, and surrounding areas). If you are in Alberta or BC, our Restonit collection ships via courier to any Canadian address.

Which brand is better for back pain?

Both brands can work well for back pain, depending on the specific model and your body. A 2015 study in Applied Ergonomics found that medium-firm mattresses reduced back pain in 90% of participants regardless of mattress type. For coil support, try the Restonic ComfortCare. For foam contouring, the Restonit Pocket Care Premium or Glacier Peyto are popular choices among customers with back concerns.

Do Restonit mattresses smell when you unbox them?

Some off-gassing is normal with any roll-packed foam mattress. The smell is non-toxic and typically fades within 24-48 hours. Opening a window helps. Health Canada's guidelines confirm that CertiPUR-US certified foams (which Restonit uses) meet Canadian safety standards for volatile organic compound emissions.

Can I return a mattress if I pick the wrong brand?

Contact us at (519) 770-0001 to discuss your situation. We would rather help you find the right mattress than process a return. If you are unsure which brand suits you, visiting our Brantford showroom to try both is the most reliable way to decide.
