How much bigger is the bed frame than the mattress?
Most bed frames are 2-4 inches larger than the mattress on each dimension. A queen frame externally is typically 63-65 inches wide x 83-85 inches long (for a 60 x 80 mattress). Always check the specific frame's external dimensions.
How much room around the bed do I need?
Leave 24-30 inches of walkway on at least one long side. Two sides clear is ideal. Add 12-18 inches for a nightstand. A queen bed needs a room at least 10 x 12 ft to feel comfortable.
Will a queen mattress fit a king frame?
Technically yes, but the queen mattress will leave 16 inches of unused width inside the king frame. Sheets won't fit properly. Don't try to make a smaller mattress fit a larger frame.
What's a Cal king frame vs regular king?
California king frames are 72 x 84 inches (for 72 x 84 mattress) — narrower but longer than regular king (76 x 80 frame for 76 x 80 mattress). Same total area, different shape. Cal king suits tall sleepers.
Do frames come in custom sizes?
We can special-order custom-sized frames for RV, truck, and ADA-compliant builds. Call 519-770-0001 with your exact mattress dimensions for a quote.
