Questions, Answered

The quilt and throw questions we actually get asked.

If your question isn't here, call our Brantford showroom at 519-770-0001 or stop in at 441 1/2 West Street. A real person answers the phone.

What's the difference between a quilt, a coverlet, and a bedspread?
A quilt is a three-layer stitched textile (top, batting, backing) with decorative stitching. A coverlet is a single thin layer of fabric used as a light bed covering or styling piece. A bedspread is a full-sized cover that drops to the floor and covers the pillows. Quilts are most versatile; coverlets layer over a duvet; bedspreads are old-school traditional.
How do I wash a quilt?
Use a large-capacity washing machine on a gentle cycle with cold water and mild detergent. Air dry or tumble dry low. Heavy quilts may need a professional laundromat washer. Wash every 2 to 3 months unless visibly soiled.
Are weighted blankets safe to use under a quilt?
Yes. A weighted blanket goes directly on top of the sleeper, with a quilt on top for decoration if desired. The weighted blanket should be 8 to 12 percent of body weight. Avoid using on children under 5 or anyone who can't remove the blanket on their own.
Can I machine wash a throw blanket?
Most fleece, cotton, and microfibre throws machine wash on cold. Wool throws and decorative throws with fringe or beading should be hand-washed or dry cleaned. Check the care label every time.
Do you sell electric blankets in Canada?
We carry select heated bedding at our Brantford showroom. For safety, always look for CSA-certified products with auto-shutoff. Never use an electric blanket with a weighted blanket or on someone who can't operate the controls.
Do you offer free delivery on quilts and throws?
Yes. Free online delivery across Canada on quilt and throw orders, shipped through Canada Post and Purolator. Local same-day delivery available in Brantford and surrounding areas.
