An upholstered bed frame does something a bare wood or metal frame simply can't: it makes the whole room feel softer. This bed is built on a MDF base with fabric over top, and the padded headboard is the first thing you notice when you walk into a bedroom. We carry it in Twin, Double, Queen, and King, so it fits households of all sizes, from a kid's first big bed to a primary bedroom centrepiece.
Looking for solid pine? Our Lakewood collection is built from real solid pine.
It's a platform design, which means no box spring required. That's a real saving for most families, and one less piece of furniture to haul around if you ever move.
Light fabric vs. dark fabric: what actually holds up
We get this question a lot, so we'll give you the honest answer. Lighter fabrics, creams, soft greys, whites, look stunning in a bedroom and photograph beautifully. They also show every stray thread, pet hair, and smudge. Darker fabrics, charcoal, navy, slate, hide daily wear much better and generally look sharp longer with less effort.
That doesn't mean you should avoid lighter colours. Many customers tell us they love their lighter upholstered frame and don't find the upkeep burdensome. But if you have young kids, dogs that "don't get on the bed" (but do), or just a busy household, a darker shade is going to be more forgiving. We're happy to show you the options in the showroom so you can see the difference in person.
Buying tip: When choosing fabric colour, bring a photo of your bedroom walls and flooring. It's much easier to pick a fabric that works with your existing room when you can hold swatches up to something real. Our team at the West Street showroom is happy to help you think through the colour decision.
Why Canadian made MDF matters under the fabric
The frame under the upholstery is MDF, not particle board. That distinction matters more than it sounds. Particle board can sag, warp, or crack under years of normal use, especially in a King size where the spans are longer. MDF holds its shape, handles weight properly, and gives the fabric something firm to sit against so it doesn't look deflated or lumpy over time.
This frame is Canadian made, which we think is worth mentioning because it means the construction quality is something we can actually vouch for. We've been selling beds in Brantford since 1987, and the frames that come back to us as problems are almost never the Canadian-made ones.

If you want to compare this frame to other styles, the full bed frames collection is a good place to start. And once you have the frame and mattress sorted, finishing touches like bedding and pillows bring the whole room together.
