Velvet upholstery on a bed frame looks rich and feels even better. This velvet bed frame has a deep padded headboard that adds real comfort if you sit up in bed reading, and the fabric gives the whole piece a warmth that linen or microfibre just doesn't quite match. Available in Double, Queen, and King, with several colour options we keep in the showroom so you can see them in person.
It's a platform design, so you skip the box spring entirely. That's not a compromise, it's genuinely how these frames are designed to be used. The platform base gives your mattress solid, even support, and you save the cost and hassle of an extra foundation. Browse the mattress collection to find what goes with it.
Is velvet fabric hard to keep clean on a bed frame?
This is the question we hear most often, and the honest answer is: not really, as long as you stay on top of it. Velvet has a reputation for being fussy, but with basic care it holds up well for years.
The two rules are simple. First, vacuum the headboard once a month with a soft brush attachment. Velvet can trap dust and pet hair more than smooth fabrics, but a quick pass keeps it looking fresh. Second, if something spills on the headboard, blot it immediately with a clean, dry cloth. Don't rub. Let it dry completely before touching it again. Most spills come out fine if you catch them quickly.
What you want to avoid is letting moisture sit on velvet for a long time, or scrubbing aggressively. That can crush the pile and leave a visible mark. Treat it gently and it treats you well in return.
Fabric and sleep environment: Upholstered headboards can actually improve sleep quality in small ways. They reduce the feel of a hard wall against your back if you sit up at night, and soft fabrics absorb a small amount of sound, making a room feel quieter. For light sleepers or people who read before bed, a padded velvet headboard is more than just looks.
Choosing the right velvet colour for your bedroom
We carry several colour options for this frame, and the difference in person versus on a screen is significant. Velvet changes shade depending on light direction, a phenomenon called "shading" or "pile reversal," and it's part of what makes the fabric look so dynamic. What looks like one flat colour in a photo has depth and movement in real life.
Deeper colours like forest green, slate blue, or charcoal tend to be very forgiving with wear and look dramatic in a bedroom. Lighter options like blush or soft grey photograph beautifully but show more. In our experience, most customers who see both side by side in the showroom end up with a darker shade. But the lighter ones have their fans too, and if your room has a lot of natural light, they look extraordinary.
If you're putting together a full bedroom look, the bedding collection has options that complement velvet nicely. And if you want to compare this frame against other upholstered and platform options, the full bed frames collection is worth a look. Not sure what mattress size makes sense for your room? The mattress quiz takes about two minutes.
