Most bedroom lighting advice and boho decor advice exist in completely separate worlds. Sleep researchers talk about colour temperature, melatonin suppression, and lux levels. Interior designers talk about warmth, layers, and mood. These two worlds describe the same thing without realising it.
The bohemian bedroom aesthetic favours warm-toned Edison bulbs or flame-shaped filaments, pendant fixtures made from rattan or wicker that break up direct light rather than project it, multiple low-level light sources rather than one central ceiling fixture, and lots of soft textiles that absorb ambient light instead of reflecting it. Every one of those preferences lines up with what chronobiology research recommends for the hours before sleep.
The fact that the aesthetic developed through cultural tradition rather than sleep science is irrelevant to how it functions in practice. A rattan pendant with a 2700K bulb dimmed to 40 percent works the same way whether you bought it because it looks beautiful or because you read a study on melatonin.

A study published in the Journal of Physiological Anthropology found that light at 6500K suppressed the nocturnal rise of melatonin and the corresponding drop in core body temperature significantly more than light at 3000K.
