UGG is known for sheepskin boots, and the brand has extended its "cozy" identity into bedding, loungewear, and home goods. UGG sheets come in several collections, but two stand out: the flannel sheets and the Devon garment-washed line. Both lean into the brand's comfort-first reputation, and both are priced lower than most DTC sheet brands, sitting in the $60-$120 range depending on the collection and size. You used to find UGG bedding primarily at Bed Bath and Beyond, but since that retailer's bankruptcy in 2023, UGG sheets have shifted to other retailers and the brand's own website. The question is whether a boot company makes sheets worth buying, or whether you are paying for the logo on the packaging.

UGG Flannel Sheets: Actual Cotton, Not Synthetic

The most important thing about UGG's flannel sheets is that they use real brushed cotton flannel, not polyester fleece or microfibre masquerading as flannel. Real cotton flannel is made by weaving cotton yarn and then mechanically brushing the surface to raise a nap, creating that fuzzy, warm texture. The brushing process traps air between the raised fibres, which provides insulation. This makes flannel sheets noticeably warmer than percale or sateen sheets of the same weight.

Flannel has measurable thermal properties. The napped surface creates a dead-air layer against your skin that acts as insulation, similar to how a fleece jacket works. In a cold Brantford bedroom where the thermostat drops to 16-18 degrees overnight, flannel sheets eliminate that initial cold-sheet shock when you climb into bed. They feel warm immediately rather than requiring your body heat to warm them up, which is the sensation percale and sateen sheets produce.

The downsides are real. Flannel pills over time, especially with repeated washing. UGG's flannel quality is mid-range, which means you will see pilling within six months to a year of regular use. The Devon line takes a different approach. These are polyester microfibre sheets that have been garment-washed to create a pre-softened, lived-in texture. Garment washing involves tumbling the finished product with enzymes or silicone softeners, which relaxes the fibres and eliminates the stiff, crunchy feel that cheap polyester sheets often have out of the package.

Devon sheets are lighter than flannel, less warm, and usable year-round in moderate climates. The polyester base means they resist wrinkles better than cotton, dry faster in the wash, and cost less to produce. The trade-off is breathability. Polyester does not absorb moisture the way cotton does. If you sweat at night, polyester sheets can feel clammy because the moisture sits on the surface rather than being absorbed into the fibre. For people who sleep cool and dry, this is irrelevant. For hot sleepers, it is a deal-breaker.

The honest assessment: Devon sheets feel surprisingly nice for polyester. The garment-washing process genuinely improves the hand feel. But they are still polyester, and no amount of processing changes the fundamental moisture management limitations of the fibre. If you are choosing between $60 Devon polyester sheets and $100 cotton percale sheets, the cotton will perform better in the long run for most sleepers.
