Time Your Hot Bath or Shower
A hot shower about 90 minutes before bed raises your skin temperature briefly, then the post-shower cool-down triggers that same core temperature drop that your body needs to initiate sleep. Keep Your Room Between 16 and 19 Degrees Celsius

How to Do the Military Sleep Method
Step 1: Relax your face

Paradoxical Intention: The Counterintuitive Fix
This one sounds like a trick, but it's backed by solid clinical evidence. Paradoxical intention means lying in bed with your eyes open and actively trying to stay awake.
Why It Works
The harder you try to fall asleep, the more anxious you become about not sleeping, and the more that anxiety keeps you awake. Sleep scientists call this "sleep effort" or "sleep-related performance anxiety." By reversing the goal (trying to stay awake instead of trying to fall asleep), you remove the performance pressure entirely.
A 2003 study published in Behavior Research and Therapy found that paradoxical intention significantly reduced sleep onset latency in people with chronic insomnia compared to control groups. Technique matters, but environment sets the stage. Even the best relaxation method will fight you if your bedroom is working against sleep.
Light: The Single Biggest Disruptor
Light suppresses melatonin production, and this effect is strongest in the blue-light spectrum (phones, tablets, LED overhead lights). The research on this is extensive and consistent. If you're on your phone or watching a bright screen within an hour of bed, you're suppressing the melatonin that would otherwise start your sleep cascade.
