Brantford Student Housing: Conestoga & Laurier Bed Guide 2026

Brantford is quietly becoming a student city. Between Conestoga College's growing Brantford campus and Laurier's established downtown presence, thousands of students need somewhere to sleep every September. The question is always the same: what are my options, what fits in the room, and how do I sleep well on a student budget?

The location is specifically designed for students attending the Brantford campus, and the 2025-2026 Student Resident Agreement governs the terms. Each bedroom is furnished with a bed, desk, and storage.

The residence agreement typically specifies what furniture can and cannot be modified. Like most Ontario college residences, you generally cannot replace the provided bed frame or mattress. You can add a topper, your own pillow, and your own bedding.

Laurier Brantford: Expositor Place Residence

Wilfrid Laurier University's Brantford campus operates Expositor Place, housing 216 students across five floors. Suites range from three to seven students per unit, with student lounges, meeting rooms, underground parking, and ground-floor retail.

The name comes from the building's previous life as the home of the Brantford Expositor newspaper. It is one of those adaptive reuse stories that Brantford does well, turning heritage buildings into functional student living.

For upper-year and graduate students, Laurier also offers off-campus housing listings through their Department of Residence. These tend to be more affordable than Expositor Place and offer larger bedrooms where you can choose your own mattress.

Off-campus is where most students end up after first year. Brantford rents are lower than Hamilton's, and significantly lower than anything in the GTA. A one-bedroom apartment runs $1,200 to $1,600 per month. A room in a shared house, which is how most students live, costs $500 to $800 per month.

When you rent off-campus, you are a tenant under Ontario's Residential Tenancies Act. This gives you real rights that student residences do not.
