This is genuinely free for Brantford city residents. There is no per-item fee, no credit card required, and no limit specified per service call. Option 2: Landfill Drop-Off

Curbside bulk pickup programs in the County of Brant operate differently from city service and are not universally available across all rural areas. Check directly with the County for your specific address.

Why Ontario Has No Province-Wide Mattress Recycling Program

This question comes up often. Ontario's Extended Producer Responsibility framework under O. Reg. 391/21 covers packaging and printed paper, not products like mattresses. Mattresses are a product, not packaging, so they fall outside the Blue Box EPR system entirely.

Some provinces have moved toward mattress-specific EPR. British Columbia's Product Care program includes mattresses. Ontario has not yet implemented a comparable initiative. Until a producer-funded recycling program exists for mattresses in Ontario, disposal responsibility falls entirely on the consumer and municipality.
