The Natura Luscious Memory Foam Pillow is one of the most popular pillows we carry at Mattress Miracle in Brantford, and it generates strong opinions. Some customers love the deep contouring. Others find it too warm. This review covers what we have learned from selling this pillow since we first stocked it, including the honest trade-offs nobody else mentions.

What Is the Natura Luscious?

The Natura Luscious is a traditional-shaped pillow made with NaturaPedic plant-based memory foam. Unlike contoured or cervical pillows with specific curves and ridges, the Luscious uses a single solid foam core in a classic rectangular shape.

It moulds to your head when you lie down, holds that shape while you sleep, and slowly returns to its original form when you move. Think of it as memory foam that behaves the way memory foam is supposed to, without the chemical smell or excessive heat that cheaper versions produce.

What We Like

Genuine Neck and Shoulder Support

The solid foam core is the star here. Unlike shredded memory foam pillows that flatten over time, the Luscious maintains its structure night after night. It contours to the space between your shoulder and head, filling the gap that causes so many side sleepers to wake up with a stiff neck.

A systematic review published in Musculoskeletal Science and Practice (2025) examined how pillow choice affects chronic neck pain. While no single pillow type worked for everyone, foam pillows that maintained cervical alignment consistently reduced pain scores compared to feather or polyester fill.

The Cover Is Actually Nice

It Sleeps Warm

This is the biggest trade-off. Memory foam responds to body heat, which is what allows it to contour. But that same property means it retains warmth. If you are a hot sleeper, or if your bedroom runs above 20 degrees Celsius in summer, the Luscious may feel uncomfortably warm by morning.

Break-In Period

If you are switching from a down or polyester pillow to solid memory foam, expect the first week or two to feel strange. The foam is denser than what you are used to, and your neck muscles need time to adapt to the new support profile. This is normal, not a defect.

Only Two Sizes

Queen and King. No Twin or Standard option. If you have a smaller bed frame or prefer a compact pillow, you are out of luck with the Luscious. This limits the audience unnecessarily.

Traditional Shape Only

No cervical contour, no butterfly shape, no raised edges. The Luscious is a classic rectangular pillow. Research from the International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management (2024) suggests that contoured designs may offer slightly better cervical curve maintenance than traditional shapes. If you need targeted cervical support, a contoured pillow might serve you better.

How It Compares

Our Testing Notes from the Showroom

At our Brantford showroom, we let customers test pillows on actual mattresses, not display stands. The Luscious performs differently on a firm mattress versus a plush one. On firmer surfaces, your shoulder does not sink as deep, so the pillow's height fills the gap more effectively. On softer mattresses, your shoulder sinks further, and the Luscious can feel too tall for some sleepers.

Pairing Recommendations

The Luscious works best paired with a medium-firm to firm mattress. If you are sleeping on a plush or pillow-top mattress, your shoulder sinks deeper, which reduces the gap the pillow needs to fill. In that case, the Luscious might push your head too high and create neck strain rather than relieving it.

Dorothy recommends pairing it with a mattress protector that wicks moisture, since the foam runs warm. A cooling protector on your mattress can offset some of the pillow's heat retention.

Care Instructions

The velvet cover is machine washable. The foam core is not. Spot-clean the foam with a damp cloth if needed, and air it out every few months. Never put memory foam in the dryer. Heat degrades the cellular structure and shortens the pillow's lifespan.

The Bottom Line

The Natura Luscious is a well-made, Canadian-brand memory foam pillow that does exactly what it promises. It contours, it supports, and it lasts. The trade-offs (heat retention, no loft adjustment, break-in period) are real but manageable for the right sleeper.
