We are going to look at what that warranty actually says when you read it, separate from the marketing language. We will also look at why Nectar seems to always be on sale, what the ownership change means, and where the mattress itself genuinely performs well versus where it falls short. The Forever Warranty: What It Actually Promises

The name "Forever Warranty" implies unconditional, permanent coverage. The warranty document tells a more specific story.

Years 1-10: Nectar will replace a defective mattress at no cost, including shipping. This is genuinely strong coverage and compares well to the industry standard of 10-year limited warranties.

Year 10 and beyond: Coverage continues, but you are responsible for $50 shipping each way if a repair or replacement is needed. Nectar waives the shipping fee only if it confirms a defect in materials or workmanship. If you believe your mattress is defective but Nectar disagrees, you pay shipping to find out.

The indentation threshold: To qualify for any warranty claim, the mattress must show visible indentation greater than 1.5 inches that is not associated with an improper or unsupportive foundation. That phrase - "improper or unsupportive foundation" - appears in many warranty disputes. If Nectar determines your sagging mattress sits on an inadequate base, the claim may be denied regardless of the indentation depth.

Documentation required: Warranty claims require photos showing all four corners of the mattress, close-up photos of the problem area, and photos including a ruler or measuring tape demonstrating the indentation depth. This is not unreasonable - it prevents fraud - but it does mean the "forever" coverage requires active management on your part.

Non-transferable: The warranty applies only to the original purchaser. If you sell or give away the mattress, the warranty ends immediately. The new owner accepts the product as-is.

Visit nectarsleep.ca on any day of the year and you will see a sale. A countdown timer in the corner counts down to midnight. A strikethrough shows the "regular" price crossed out in favour of a lower "sale" price. The message is clear: act now before this deal ends.

In October 2022, a class action lawsuit was filed in a California federal court by plaintiff Amanda Snow, alleging that Nectar's countdown timers reset continuously - the sale never actually ends. The suit contends that the regular strikethrough prices are fabricated and that the mattress is perpetually sold at the "sale" price, making the discount illusory. The lawsuit characterises this as deceptive advertising under consumer protection law.

This is a separate matter from Nectar's FTC history, which involves false manufacturing claims. Nectar settled an FTC complaint in 2018 for claiming its Chinese-made mattresses were "assembled in the USA." In 2021, parent company Resident Home paid $753,000 in a separate settlement.
