In simpler terms, it tells you how quickly the foam firms up as you press deeper into it. A foam with a high support factor feels soft on the surface but gets progressively firmer the deeper you sink. A foam with a low support factor feels more uniform throughout, meaning it does not resist much more at the bottom than at the top.
