Memory foam (viscoelastic polyurethane) behaves differently from every other mattress material. Understanding why helps you pick the right fix.
Closed-Cell Structure and Surface Tension
Memory foam is made of billions of tiny closed cells. Unlike open-cell foams (think of a kitchen sponge), these cells do not have large pores on the surface. The result is a smooth, almost plasticky exterior that does not grip fabric well. When you place a sheet on top of memory foam, the contact surface is relatively flat and uniform, which means there is very little mechanical friction holding anything in place.

1. Your Bed Frame Is Not Level
