IKEA lists its single foam layer at 1.7 lb/cu.ft. against 1.5 for the AGOTNES, the mattress is 12 cm (4 3/4 inches) thick, and the cover zips off and goes in the washing machine. VADSO (Bonnell Spring, approximately $199 Full)

Update, October 30, 2026: the VADSO is no longer sold on ikea.ca, and IKEA's own search lists the name as retired (IKEA UK still sells it as a sprung mattress). The current Canadian spring option at this price is the VANNAREID, a 12 cm pocket spring Twin at $229 that IKEA sizes for day-beds.

It was IKEA Canada's cheapest spring mattress. Uses traditional Bonnell (interconnected) coils rather than pocket coils. Firm feel with noticeable motion transfer. Fine for a guest bed. Not competitive with modern pocketed coil options.

Mid-Range Tier ($300 to $500)

VALEVAG (Hybrid, $499 Queen), Best Overall

This is the IKEA mattress to buy. The VALEVAG is a pocket-spring hybrid with foam comfort layers and five comfort zones that provide softer support at the shoulders and hips. The Queen is sold in Medium Firm and Extra Firm (IKEA also lists a Firm version in Full). Customer reviews on IKEA Canada rate it 4 out of 5 stars from 3,748 reviews (October 30, 2026). The VALEVAG is IKEA's replacement for the discontinued HAUGESUND, though it is a meaningful upgrade with thicker foam layers (roughly 1.5 inches versus 0.75 inches on the HAUGESUND).

VESTEROY (Hybrid, $399 Queen)

Another pocket-spring hybrid, slightly thinner than the VALEVAG (20 cm against 24 cm). Sold in Firm only in Canada. A good option if the VALEVAG is out of stock. ANNELAND (Hybrid, $799 Queen)

IKEA's top-tier hybrid. Premium pocket springs with multiple comfort layers. Two firmness options, Firm and Medium Firm, and the King is $999. The closest IKEA gets to competing with $1,000+ mattresses from Canadian brands.

VINGELEN (Eurotop Hybrid, discontinued, was approximately $899 Queen)

Update, October 30, 2026: the VINGELEN is no longer sold on ikea.ca, IKEA's search lists it as retired, and no current IKEA Canada mattress has a euro top. The ANNELAND ($799 Queen) is now the most expensive IKEA mattress in Canada.

No IKEA mattress sale was running on ikea.ca when we checked on October 30, 2026. None of the ten adult mattresses showed a reduced price. Four carry IKEA's Best Seller badge (ÅGOTNES, ÅSVANG, VALEVÅG and VÅGSTRANDA), which marks popularity and comes with no discount.
