Questions, Answered
The headboards questions we actually get asked.
If your question isn't here, call our Brantford showroom at 519-770-0001 or stop in at 441 1/2 West Street. A real person answers the phone.
Do I need a headboard?
Not strictly. A headboard adds height, defines the bed visually, and prevents pillows from sliding off. Skip if you want minimal aesthetic or rent and don't want to wall-mount.
How do you attach a headboard?
Most headboards bolt directly to the bed frame via pre-drilled holes. Wall-mounted headboards bolt or hang via cleats. Always measure your existing frame's headboard mounting points before buying.
Upholstered vs wood headboard: which lasts longer?
Solid wood lasts 20+ years. Upholstered headboards last 8-15 years before the fabric fades or wears — the wood frame underneath lasts longer but you may want to recover or replace the fabric.
Can a headboard be too tall?
Comfort-wise, headboards work best at 48-54 inches tall for adults. Taller (54-72 in) makes a dramatic statement but can dominate small bedrooms. Measure your ceiling height — leave 12+ inches above the headboard top.
What size headboard for a queen bed?
Queen headboards are 60 inches wide (matches queen mattress). Some are slightly wider (62-66 in) to overlap the bed frame edges. Height is your choice — 48 inches is the modern standard.
