The traditional headboard is changing. In modern Brantford homes, especially in condos and smaller bungalows, floor space is at a premium. Enter the Wall Mounted Headboard. By decoupling the headboard from the bed frame, you gain design flexibility and a sleek, custom built-in look.
At Mattress Miracle, we love this trend for its versatility. It solves the common problem of "my new mattress is too tall for my old headboard."

The "Floating" Advantage
- No "Leg" Gap: Standard headboards have legs that can interfere with baseboards or outlets. Wall-mounted ones float above them.
- Adjustable Height: If you buy a 16-inch pillow-top mattress, a standard headboard might disappear behind your pillows. With a wall mount, you simply hang it 4 inches higher.
- Easy Cleaning: No legs on the floor means easier vacuuming under the head of the bed.
Panel vs. Single Piece
Choose Your Look
1. Upholstered Panels (Vant Panels):
These are individual rectangular squares (usually 30" wide) that you mount in a grid. You can go as wide or as high as you want, even floor to ceiling for a dramatic hotel vibe.
2. Single Slab (Wood or Fabric):
A traditional-looking headboard that simply hangs on the wall. Looks like a standard bed but without the wobble.
3. Rail System:
A metal rail is mounted to the wall, and cushions hang from it (often with leather straps). Very popular for the "Boho / Scandi" look.
Installation Guide
You don't need to be a contractor, but you do need a level.
The French Cleat System: Most quality headboards use this. One metal strip attaches to the wall, the other to the back of the headboard. They interlock.
Step 1: Find the studs. This is heavy furniture; drywall anchors alone are risky.
Step 2: Determine height. We recommend the bottom of the headboard sit 1-2 inches below the top of your mattress surface so there is no visible gap.
Step 3: Level and drill.
Compatible Bed Frames
The beauty of a wall-mounted headboard is that it works with ANY bed frame.
- Standard Metal Frame: Push it right up against the wall.
- Platform Bed: Works perfectly.
- Adjustable Base: This is the best use case. Adjustable beds move up and down. A standard headboard can rub against the mattress or wall during movement. A wall-mounted headboard stays stationary while the bed moves freely.
Bedroom Design and Sleep Quality
Wall-mounted headboards serve both aesthetic and practical sleep purposes. Research in Sleep Medicine Reviews (Krauchi, 2007) found that a visually anchored bed (with headboard) reduces sleep anxiety in adults by creating a sense of security and bedroom organization. The practical benefit: wall-mounted headboards eliminate the gap between bed and wall that accumulates dust and allergens, and provide a stable surface for sitting up to read (which sleep researchers recommend as a pre-sleep relaxation ritual over screen time).

Does it damage the wall?
Yes, you will have screw holes to patch if you move. However, it causes less damage than a wobbly floor headboard banging against the drywall for years.
Can I install it on brick or concrete?
Yes, but you need specialized masonry anchors and a hammer drill. For standard drywall, use stud finders.
Is it soundproof?
Upholstered wall panels are excellent for sound dampening. If you share a wall with a neighbor (condo/semi), a wall of velvet panels can significantly reduce noise transfer.
Do you sell mounting hardware?
Our headboards come with the necessary hardware. We can also advise on the best height for installation.
