What Is Pillow Loft?
Pillow loft refers to the height (thickness) of a pillow when lying under a person's head. It is the primary physical variable that determines whether a pillow maintains correct cervical spine alignment during sleep:
- Low loft: Under 7 cm (under 3 inches), flat or thin pillows
- Medium loft: 7–10 cm (3–4 inches), standard height for most back sleepers
