Canadian Mattress Companies 2026: Canadian-Made Mattresses and What Made in Canada Means

A Canadian mattress company can design mattresses here, build them here or simply sell them here, and those are three different businesses. A Canadian-made mattress is narrower: the mattress itself was built here. Mattress Miracle is a family-owned mattress store in Brantford, Ontario, open since 1997, and we sell several of the mattresses named below, so we have a stake in this topic. This guide covers the three makers whose mattresses we ship free to every province and territory, Sleep In, Restonit and Natura, and the other Canadian companies on our Brantford floor. It also shows how to check a "Made in Canada" claim yourself against the Competition Bureau's origin-claim guidelines, whoever you buy from.

Are There Any Mattresses Made in Canada?

Yes, mattresses are still made in Canada. Canadian Industry Statistics for mattress manufacturing (NAICS 33791), published by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada, show $825.7 million in factory shipments in 2023, against $306.4 million in mattress imports and $71.6 million in exports in 2025. The years differ, but by value Canadian factory shipments run well over double the import figure.

At Mattress Miracle, 10 of the mattresses that ship free across Canada say "Made in Canada" on their listings: four Sleep In models, two Restonit models and four Natura Green Spring hybrids. The Sleep In Comfort Sleep listing says "Canadian craftsmanship" instead, and we report it that way.

Origin and safety are separate questions. Health Canada's Mattresses Regulations (SOR/2016-183) set a cigarette test under the CAN/CGSB-4.2 No. 27.7-2023 standard: charring may not spread more than 50 mm, and the mattress may not keep burning 10 minutes after the cigarette goes out. Section 6 of the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act bars making, importing or selling a product that fails a regulation, so an imported mattress faces the same test as one built here.

What Does Made in Canada Mean on a Mattress?

"Made in Canada" on a mattress is a claim the Competition Bureau assesses under the false or misleading representation rules of the Competition Act, the Consumer Packaging and Labelling Act and the Textile Labelling Act. None of those Acts makes a maker state a country of origin. Once a maker does, the Bureau's "Product of Canada" and "Made in Canada" enforcement guidelines, dated March 7, 2025, describe when it will generally not challenge the claim. They are guidance, not a statute, and each case is judged on its facts.

Two definitions sit behind that table. Direct costs are the maker's spending on materials and production labour; general overhead usually doesn't count. A substantial transformation is, in the guidelines' words, "a fundamental change in form, appearance or nature" that leaves a new and different good.

Pictures and near-synonyms count too. A maple leaf or Canadian flag on a tag can be an implied "Made in Canada" claim and should meet the same conditions, and "manufactured in Canada" or "produced in Canada" are read the same way. For a corporation's first deceptive-marketing violation, the guidelines list an administrative monetary penalty of up to the greater of $10 million or three times the benefit gained (3% of worldwide gross revenue if the benefit can't be worked out). Our own listings print a plain "Made in Canada" with no qualifier. The guidelines pair that claim with a qualifier naming the imported content, so ask any seller, us included, for the Canadian-content figure before you buy.

Canadian-Made Mattresses That Ship Free Across Canada

The Sleep In, Restonit and Natura mattresses below ship free from Mattress Miracle to all 13 provinces and territories. Sleep In Embassy Euro Top: The Lowest-Cost Canadian-Made Pick

The Sleep In Embassy Euro Top is the least expensive mattress here, at $605 for a queen. The Embassy Euro Top listing describes an 8" medium-soft core of soy-based bio foam under a euro top quilted with 1/4" soft foam and 20 oz of hollow fibre. It's one-sided, so you rotate it instead of flipping it. Twin and Twin XL are $475.20, double $539 and king $715. The listing states no warranty, so we don't state one. It suits a guest room, a starter bedroom or a tight budget.

Sleep In Paradise: A Rolled Pocket-Coil Hybrid

The Sleep In Paradise is a hybrid: pocketed coils, each spring wrapped in fabric, under layers of foam. The Paradise hybrid listing gives an 11" profile, a medium feel of about 5 to 6 out of 10, a 10-year warranty and "Made in Canada by Sleep In". It ships rolled in plastic wrap and needs 24 to 48 hours to expand. The queen is $695, twin $630, double $675 and king $980. The listing suggests it for upstairs bedrooms and rentals. Sleep In Cool Breeze: Pocket Coils for Warm Sleepers

The Sleep In Cool Breeze, also $695 for a queen, is built for people who run warm. The Cool Breeze listing describes a Cool Max fabric surface, a gel layer and pocket coils that leave air channels through the core, with a medium-firm feel, a 10-year warranty and "Made in Canada". It gives no height, so ask before you order, and it warns that a thick, non-breathable protector blunts the cooling surface. Sleep In Comfort Sleep: Zoned Coils and a Soft Euro Top

The Sleep In Comfort Sleep is a 13" euro top hybrid. The Comfort Sleep listing counts 936 pocket coils in five zones: 1.8 mm wire in the head, leg and lumbar zones and firmer 2.2 mm wire in the side zones, with a Quantum coil edge against the roll-off feeling. A 3" medium-soft bio foam layer and a stretch bamboo cover sit on top. Queen is $965, twin $875, double $920 and king $1,295, with a 10-year warranty. Two catches: the listing says "Canadian craftsmanship" rather than "Made in Canada", and it advises against an adjustable base.

Sleep In Gel Comfort: All-Foam, Rolled in Plastic

The Sleep In Gel Comfort is a 10" all-foam mattress: gel-infused memory foam over high-density support foam, under a stretch-knit cover. The Gel Comfort listing rates it medium, about 5 to 6 out of 10, with CertiPUR-US certified foams, a 10-year warranty and "Made in Canada". It arrives rolled in plastic wrap and takes 24 to 48 hours to reach full size. Queen is $1,129, twin and Twin XL $1,004, double $1,091 and king $1,399. The listing says the gel helps only slightly with heat and points serious hot sleepers to a pocket-coil hybrid. It does suit an adjustable base.

Restonit Organique: Talalay Latex With a Memory Foam Top

The Restonit Organique, listed as the SO-SLEEPY REST-ON-IT, is a 10" tight top: 4 lb visco gel memory foam over natural Talalay latex, then soft high-resilience foam and a soy-based foam core, all CertiPUR-US certified, under a quilted cotton cover. The Organique listing shows a 10-year non-prorated warranty and "Made in Canada". Queen and split queen are $1,831, king $2,136 and RV queen short $2,106. The product name says "Organic", but the listing shows no organic certificate, so judge it by its materials. Our natural latex mattress guide explains Talalay versus Dunlop.

Restonit Frost: Gel Foam and Nano Coils, Shipped in a Box

The Restonit Frost is a 12" mattress. From the top, the Frost listing names a cooling fabric cover, an ice gel layer, gel-infused memory foam, nano coils, soft high-resilience foam and a soy-based foam base, plus a zip-off cover, CertiPUR-US foams, a 10-year non-prorated warranty and "Made in Canada". Like the Cool Breeze listing, it says the mattress "ships compressed in a box to your door". Queen is $1,852, twin $1,647, double $1,706, king $2,106 and RV queen short $2,130. The listing's surface-temperature figure has no source we could find, so we leave it out.

Natura: 18 Models, Built to Order

Natura is the widest Canadian line Mattress Miracle ships nationally: 18 mattresses across the Green Spring hybrids, the Latex Line and the Organic Line, with queens from $1,525.60 to $5,589. The entry model, the Natura Green Spring Reflection, is 10.5" tall, with a 9.5" pocket-coil unit under quilt foam, 2.3 lb of wool and a cotton quilt cover, and a 10-year warranty. Four Natura listings, all Green Spring hybrids, say "Made in Canada"; the other 14 state no origin. Natura describes the Eco Brilliance and Eco Transcend as made with GOTS-certified organic materials (organic cotton ticking and organic wool) and lists no organic certification for the latex. Canadian Mattress Companies Behind These Mattresses

Here is what each maker we ship nationally says on its own website. We name a factory city only where the maker's own site states one, and none of these three does.

• Sleep In Mattress Inc. describes itself on its own website as "a family owned company and operated in Canada", with showroom locations in Etobicoke, Ontario, and Airdrie, Alberta. Sleep In ships from its factory directly to our store.
• Restonit makes the Organique and Frost. It is a different company from Restonic, and our Restonit vs Restonic comparison sorts out the two names.
• Natura says on its Canadian website that the Rossdeutscher family has guided the company for over 30 years.

How to Verify a Made in Canada Mattress Claim

Verifying a "Made in Canada" mattress claim means reading the label closely and asking the maker two questions.

1. Read the exact words. "Product of Canada", "Made in Canada with imported parts", "Assembled in Canada" and "Designed in Canada" mean different things under the guidelines. Phrases such as "Canadian company" or "Canadian craftsmanship", the wording on our own Comfort Sleep listing, aren't among the guidelines' defined claims; the Bureau judges wording like that by the general impression it gives.
2. Check the pictures. A maple leaf or flag on the tag or box can count as a claim, so look for origin wording that backs it up.
3. Ask for the Canadian-content figure. The guidelines' own example is "Made in Canada with 60% Canadian content and 40% imported content".
4. Ask where the foam, coils and fabric become a mattress. That last substantial step is what the guidelines care about.
5. Separate safety labels from origin labels. CertiPUR-US and OEKO-TEX say nothing about where a mattress was made.
6. Get the answer in writing before you pay.

Buying a Canadian-Made Mattress From Outside Ontario

Buying a Canadian-made mattress from Mattress Miracle outside Ontario works the same way from Victoria to St. John's. You order online, checkout shows free shipping, and a courier delivers the mattress rolled or compressed, in 3 to 7 business days for the Sleep In and Restonit models; Natura adds its build time of about four weeks. Unroll it on its frame and give it 24 to 48 hours to expand, as the Gel Comfort and Paradise listings ask. The 60-Night Comfort Guarantee applies wherever the mattress is delivered: one exchange per purchase, no exchange fee, counted from the delivery date. You pay the delivery charge on the exchange, and outside 200 km there is no published figure, so call for the cost to your city before you buy. A mattress protector is required, and the mattress has to be like-new and free of stains and pests. Custom sizes, clearance items, floor models and as-is products are excluded. How We Picked These Canadian-Made Mattresses

We picked these mattresses on five criteria, checked October 9, 2026. We did not lab-test them; we sell them and take the calls about them.

• It ships free across Canada at checkout. Models that only deliver in Southern Ontario were left out.
• The maker is Canadian, and the table copies each listing's origin wording as written: "Made in Canada" on 10, "Canadian craftsmanship" on the Comfort Sleep, and no origin line on 14 Natura listings.
• The construction is disclosed: layers, foams and, where given, coil counts.
• The warranty is on the listing. Where it isn't, as with the Embassy, the table says so.
• Every size has a public price, with no compare-at price inflating a discount.

Two Natura models, the Natura Eco Brilliance all-latex mattress and the Eco Transcend, are on our Brantford floor; the Reflection and most of the line are not, so call before you drive. Every mattress we carry with a 10-year warranty is one we have watched last 10 years, which is part of why these made the list.

Canadian-Made vs Imported Mattresses: What Actually Changes

Canadian-made and imported mattresses pass the same Health Canada cigarette test. Origin changes who you deal with, how far the mattress travels and what you can find out about it.

You'll often read that Canadian mattresses are built for our climate, ship faster or cost a set percentage more. We couldn't find a source for any of those claims, so we don't make them. In our experience, the mattresses that last come from makers that stand behind their warranties. Our earlier look at Canadian mattress manufacturing has brand-by-brand history.

How to Choose a Canadian Mattress Brand

Choosing a Canadian mattress brand takes the same steps as any mattress, plus an origin check, in the order we walk callers through.

1. Confirm it's made in Canada, using the wording and questions above. A Canadian head office doesn't mean a Canadian factory.
2. Pick a build: all-foam (Gel Comfort, Embassy), foam and latex (Organique), gel foam over nano coils (Frost), or pocket-coil hybrid (Paradise, Cool Breeze, Comfort Sleep, Natura Green Spring).
3. Match the feel to how you sleep. Side sleepers usually want a softer top, back and stomach sleepers a firmer one. Treat any 1-to-10 firmness number as a rough guide.
4. Read the warranty length on the listing and ask whether it's prorated.
5. Price the delivered cost, including the exchange delivery charge if you're outside 200 km.
