Why Vancouver Shoppers Order From Ontario
Vancouver has no shortage of furniture stores. So why do BC customers order bed frames from a family-owned shop in Brantford? Three reasons we hear repeatedly: selection, price, and the specific brands we carry.
Julien Beaudoin, for example, is a Canadian manufacturer whose upholstered beds are difficult to find on the west coast. Same with our house-brand platforms like the Level and Breeze, which were designed for quick assembly and ship flat. Most Vancouver furniture stores carry the same half-dozen brands. We carry something different.
Brad, Owner, 40+ years of experience: "We started shipping to Vancouver maybe five or six years ago. Someone found us online looking for a Julien Beaudoin bed that nobody in BC stocked. Now we ship to Vancouver, Victoria, Kelowna, Kamloops regularly. The beds travel well because they flat-pack."
There is also the condo factor. Vancouver has more condos per capita than almost any Canadian city, and small-footprint beds with clean lines sell well there. That happens to be exactly what we specialize in.
Platform Beds Under $500
If you want a solid platform bed without spending a fortune, these are the models Vancouver customers order most.
| Model | Price | Material | Assembly | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hickory Ridge | $170 | Steel + wood | Standard | Budget, industrial look |
| Canadian Made Platform | $295 | Wood | Standard | Modern minimalist |
| Elysian Velvet | $380 | Velvet upholstery | Standard | Diamond tufted luxury look |
| Level Platform | $385 | Engineered wood | 10 minutes | Quick setup, no tools |
| Elora | $470 | Upholstered | Standard | Adjustable headboard angle |
| Bookshelf Platform | $475 | Wood | Standard | Built-in storage, reading |
| Reflex Platform | $475 | Wood + fabric | Standard | Customizable drawers |
| Haines Junction | $490 | Leather + steel | Standard | Industrial loft style |
| Breeze Platform | $490 | Engineered wood | No tools needed | Fastest assembly, moving day |
The Level and Breeze are our most popular models for Vancouver shipments. Both assemble without tools, which matters when you are setting up in a condo elevator building and want to be done in under fifteen minutes.
Vancouver Condo Favourite: The Level Platform ($385) assembles in about 10 minutes with no tools required. At 7 inches tall, it keeps your overall sleep height low, which works well in rooms with standard 8-foot ceilings. The clean lines suit the modern aesthetic most Vancouver condos go for.

Mid-Range Platforms: $500 to $1,000
This is where you start getting heavier materials, more design detail, and storage options.
| Model | Price | Style | Standout Feature |
|---|---|---|---|
| Allison Grey Fabric | $565 | Button tufted | Classic grey upholstery |
| Avalon Storage | $570 | Minimalist | Under-bed storage |
| Jasper Storage | $570 | Modern | 3 drawers + pull-up storage |
| Celestre | $595 | Contemporary | Wire mesh side drawers |
| Revelstoke | $645 | Modern rustic | BC-inspired name and design |
| Saunder | $650 | Dark grey fabric | Drawers + padded headboard |
| Sterling Storage | $695 | Elegant | Clean storage design |
| Kenora Boucle | $895 | Boucle fabric | Acrylic legs, designer look |
| St. Jacobs Traditional | $980 | Traditional | Canella finish, timeless |
| Elgin Wingback | $960 | Hotel luxury | Wingback design |
The Revelstoke ($645) is worth calling out for Vancouver buyers. Named after the BC mountain town, it has that modern-rustic aesthetic that fits well in Pacific Northwest homes. The mixed wood and metal construction feels substantial without being too heavy to move.
Talia, Showroom Specialist: "Vancouver customers tend to gravitate toward three looks: Scandinavian minimalist (that is the Level or Breeze), modern industrial (Haines Junction or Revelstoke), or upholstered luxury (the Julien Beaudoin line). The city has a strong design sense. People know what they want."
Storage Platform Beds
Storage beds make more sense in Vancouver than almost anywhere else in Canada. When your bedroom is 120 square feet and closet space costs $1,500 per square foot in real estate, building storage into your bed frame is practical, not optional.
Storage Beds Ranked by Capacity
- Lunenburg ($1,330) - 12 drawers. Maximum storage. If you are replacing a dresser, this is the one.
- Fulton Heights ($1,565) - Drawer storage plus premium build quality. Our highest-end storage platform.
- Ashford Hydraulic Lift ($800) - Entire mattress platform lifts to reveal full under-bed cavity. Best for seasonal items.
- Jasper ($570) - 3 drawers plus pull-up section. Good balance of storage and price.
- Avalon ($570) - Minimalist design with under-bed storage. Does not look like a storage bed.
- Windsor Velvet ($995) - Luxury velvet with built-in storage. Statement piece.
Space and Sleep Quality: A 2020 study published in the Journal of Environmental Psychology found that bedroom clutter is associated with longer sleep onset latency and poorer subjective sleep quality. Participants who described their bedrooms as "cluttered" took an average of 19 minutes longer to fall asleep. Storage beds that reduce visible clutter may genuinely improve your rest, not just your floor space.
Upholstered Platform Beds by Julien Beaudoin
Julien Beaudoin is a Canadian manufacturer based in Quebec. Their upholstered beds are a step above what you will find at most furniture retailers, with denser foam padding, reinforced joints, and fabric options that hold up over years of use. We carry their full lineup and ship every model to Vancouver.
Each Julien Beaudoin bed comes in two footboard styles: Woodland (exposed wood accent) and Absolute (fully upholstered). Same bed, same price, different look at the foot. You can also buy the headboard only if you already have a base you like.
| Model | Bed Price | Headboard Only | Style Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| London | $1,195 | $400 | Classic panel, clean lines |
| Ennis | $1,200 | $330 | Minimal modern profile |
| Adelaide | $1,200 | $490 | Luxury platform design |
| Jane | $1,230 | $400 | Tailored contemporary |
| Lucas | $1,240 | $400 | Geometric headboard |
| Heaven | $1,250 | $400 | Triple-layer cloud comfort |
| Noah | $1,275 | $500 | Curved headboard detail |
| Sunset | $1,280 | $500 | Horizontal channel tufting |
| Liverpool | $1,295 | $500 | Wingback silhouette |
| Adam | $1,300 | $530 | Architectural profile |
| Ocean | $1,340 | $500 | Flowing organic curves |
| Chelsea | $1,350 | $500 | Button-tufted luxury |

Vancouver Condo Sizing Guide
Vancouver condos are smaller than the Canadian average. A typical one-bedroom in Yaletown or Kitsilano has a master bedroom around 110-130 square feet. Here is how different bed sizes fit.
| Bed Size | Mattress Dimensions | Minimum Room | Comfortable Room | Verdict for Vancouver Condos |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Twin | 38" x 75" | 70 sq ft | 90 sq ft | Guest room, studio alcove |
| Double | 54" x 75" | 90 sq ft | 110 sq ft | Tight for couples, fine for one |
| Queen | 60" x 80" | 100 sq ft | 130 sq ft | Most popular for condos |
| King | 76" x 80" | 130 sq ft | 160 sq ft | Only if master is 130+ sq ft |
Condo Tip: Measure your elevator dimensions before ordering. Most Vancouver high-rise elevators are 6'8" tall and about 4' deep. A queen platform bed headboard that is 55" wide fits, but a king headboard at 80" may need to go up the stairs or be tilted diagonally. All of our platform beds ship flat-packed, which helps significantly with elevator access.
For Vancouver condos under 120 square feet in the bedroom, we recommend a queen-size platform without a footboard. The Level ($385) or Breeze ($490) are ideal because their low profile makes the room feel larger. If you want an upholstered look, the Ennis by Julien Beaudoin ($1,200) has a slim profile that does not eat up floor space.
Shipping to BC: What to Expect
Delivery Timeline
Platform beds ship from our Brantford warehouse to Vancouver in approximately 7-12 business days depending on the carrier and the specific model. Julien Beaudoin beds that are in stock ship within 2-3 business days from our end. Some models may require 1-2 weeks for manufacturing before shipping.
Shipping Costs
Shipping costs to Vancouver vary by bed size and weight. Most queen-size platform beds ship for $150 to $300 to a Vancouver address. King-size beds and storage beds with more pieces may be slightly higher. We calculate exact shipping at checkout or you can call Talia at (519) 770-0001 for a quote before ordering.
What Arrives and How
All platform beds arrive flat-packed in boxes. You will receive 1-3 boxes depending on the model. Inside: frame components, slats, hardware, and instructions. Most beds assemble in 30-60 minutes with a Phillips screwdriver. The Level and Breeze need no tools at all.
Dorothy, Sleep Specialist: "We get calls from Vancouver customers asking if the bed will survive shipping across the country. It will. These beds are designed to ship flat-packed. The packaging is solid. In the years we have been shipping to BC, damage claims have been extremely rare."
Pairing With a Mattress
If you need a mattress shipped to Vancouver as well, our Restonit collection ships via courier anywhere in Canada. Popular pairings for Vancouver customers:
- Budget: Level Platform ($385) + Restonit Borealis Gel ($585) = $970 total
- Mid-range: Breeze Platform ($490) + Glacier Peyto ($1,045) = $1,535 total
- Premium: Ennis Bed ($1,200) + FROST Ice Gel ($1,525) = $2,725 total
BC Customers: We ship to all major BC cities including Vancouver, Victoria, Burnaby, Surrey, Richmond, Kelowna, Kamloops, Nanaimo, Prince George, and Abbotsford. Rural BC addresses may take a few extra days. Contact us for delivery estimates to your specific postal code.
A Note on What We Cannot Ship to BC
Our Restonic mattresses require white glove truck delivery and are available only in Southern Ontario. If you want a traditional coil mattress, Restonic is not an option for Vancouver. However, the Restonit Pocket Care Premium ($845) is a pocketed-coil hybrid that does ship nationally and provides that coil-supported feel.
Solid wood furniture from our Lakewood collection ships to BC but freight costs are higher due to weight. Contact us for a freight quote on solid wood pieces.

Call 519-770-0001Frequently Asked Questions
Do you deliver to Vancouver Island?
Yes. We ship to Victoria, Nanaimo, Courtenay, and other Vancouver Island addresses. The courier handles the ferry crossing. Delivery may take 1-2 extra business days compared to mainland Vancouver, but the process is the same.
Can I pick a specific delivery date?
Courier delivery does not typically allow specific date selection. You will receive a tracking number once the bed ships, and the courier will provide an estimated delivery window. Most carriers offer the option to redirect to a pickup depot if you are not home.
Do platform beds need a box spring?
No. Platform beds have built-in slat systems that support the mattress directly. Adding a box spring is unnecessary and would raise your sleep height uncomfortably. Just place your mattress directly on the platform slats. The Sleep Foundation confirms that platform slats spaced 3 inches or less provide adequate mattress support without a box spring.
What if a piece arrives damaged?
Contact us immediately at (519) 770-0001. We will arrange a replacement piece or a full replacement depending on the damage. Take photos of the packaging and the damaged component before discarding anything. This helps us file the shipping claim quickly.
Do you offer assembly service in Vancouver?
We do not offer direct assembly in Vancouver. However, most platform beds assemble in 30-60 minutes with basic tools. The Level and Breeze models require no tools at all. If you need help, local services like TaskRabbit operate in Vancouver and can assist with furniture assembly.
